To find us, you can take Route 46 to Willow Grove Street, then drive north until you reach the medical complex. If you’re coming in from the New York area, you should take Highway 280 to Highway 80, then drive west until you reach Waterloo Road, which later becomes Willow Grove Street.
Hackettstown is home to around 10,000 people, but it’s known for being home to Mars Chocolate USA, the U.S. division of Mars, Incorporated. The company’s candy products, which include Twix, Milky Way, Snickers, and M&M’s, are some of the most popular in the world. In 2005, Money Magazine named Hackettstown one of the top 100 places to live and work in the U.S. Hackettstown was officially incorporated in 1853, though it had been settled in 1839 when brothers William and George Johnson opened their dry goods store. The two were very instrumental in building up the town, working to establish a church, bank, and cemetery in the area. The town itself is believed to have been named after Samuel Hackett, an early landowner. It’s believed that Hackett supplied the town with a large number of alcoholic beverages during a meeting to decide the name of a new hotel. He convinced everyone to put his name on it, which in turn lead to the naming of the town itself.
There’s a lot to see and do in Hackettstown. If you love the outdoors, you can visit Stephens State Park, which is just a short distance to the north of our office. The Musconetcong River runs through the park and provides a great view.
If you’re interested in the history of the area, you have to stop at the Hackettstown Historical Society at 106 Church Street, just a short 5-minute drive from us. This museum contains a number of exhibits related to both the town and the surrounding area. Its collection includes photographs, cemetery records, and a number of unique artifacts, books, vintage clothing, and more from the past 150 years.
For Revolutionary War buffs, Hackettstown has a few sites you’ll want to visit. There’s the Old Presbyterian Burial Ground where a number of Revolutionary War soldiers are buried. It’s actually not far from the historical society and is also less than a five-mile drive from our office.
